First Wednesday of the Month = Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Awareness Day! 08/05/26

🍎 August — School, Schedules, and Spoon Theory 🥄✨

As the back-to-school routines ramp up, so do the daily demands on all of us. But for those living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), life doesn’t follow calendars or schedules.

Many people in the chronic illness community use the Spoon Theory to explain daily energy. Think of it this way:

  • Most people start the day with an unlimited supply of spoons.

  • Someone with EDS starts with a strict limit—say, 12 spoons.

  • Every single activity costs a spoon. Showering? 1 spoon. Making breakfast? 2 spoons.

With EDS, a genetic condition that weakens the body's connective tissue (the "glue" that holds us together), tasks take twice the effort. It causes loose joints that easily dislocate, fragile skin, chronic pain, and severe fatigue.

Some days, baking at the shop takes every single spoon we have.

Some days, just existing does.

And that’s okay.

Thank you for supporting our bakery and for taking a moment to understand the invisible battles so many in our community fight every day. đź’›
